Panama. De naam van zowel een Land als een Stad. Het land van de Panama Hoed. Van een Berucht Kanaal dwars er door heen, de Stille Oceaan en de Atlantische verbindend. En, sinds kort, ook het land van de Panama Papers. Een beroemd land, dus. Ik was er in juni 2013, voor een conferentie. Rondom de conferentie hebben we wat uitstapjes gemaakt. De eerste dagen naar de stad. Daarvan in deze Exploration enkele fotos. Volgende week gaan we het binnenland in, op zoek naar de Embera, de oorspronkelijke bewoners. Vervolgens gaat het dwars door het oerwoud naar de andere kant, naar de Caribische San Blas eilanden.
Panama: the name of a Country as well as a City. Land of the Panama Hat, the canal of course, and recently the land of the Panama Papers. I was there in June 2013 at a conference. We made a few short trips. In this edition of Explorations some photos of the city and its habitants. Next week we’ll meet the Embera natives. After that we’ll head to the other side of the country: via the jungle we will explore the San Blas islands in the Caribbean.
